i was working on this at the skate park, sitting on a skateboard under a tree next to the bowl. two kids on their racing bikes interrupted me by saying "Hey. Are you an artist?". I looked up at them, holding back the many thoughts that went soaring through my mind... and stared at them for a couple of seconds, almost too many seconds to where they looked confused... i then replied.. "Well thats really all down to the individual perspective, now isn't it?" One of the kids looking taken back says... "Well, Uhh... Do you like to draw?" i replied "I like to create and sometimes yes i enjoy creating by drawing". The other kid then said "Well... we think you are an artist!" I just let it go and shrugged and said thanks... then told them where they could go if they wanted to see more of my work, and they said okay, but still looked a bit puzzled by my response.
I smiled and got back to my creation.

from wikipedia...
The function of grey matter is to route sensory or motor stimulus to interneurons of the CNS in order to create a response to the stimulus through chemical synapse activity. Research has shown that the amount of gray matter in a brain is positively correlated with human intelligence.

lovely work meredith, I would prefer this with more contrast on the black/grey but either way looks really nice.

meredith thanks luis, its funny.. i actually had the gray-ish area's almost completely black the entire creation, it was a last minute adjustment. i really appreciate your kind thoughts :]
the way you created the lippish-flower is very artistic, so yes even tough it might be strange in the beginning you have the right to call yourself an artist, better get used to it.
I very much like the colorcombination.
who is the girl ?

meredith thank you very much for your kind words..i suppose i will try to get used to it! lol.
i am that girl :]
i took it a couple days ago and then ruined it in photoshop...
Forgive me I wasn't in the right frame of mind to comment until now...
This is beautiful! I thought it looked different from when I saw it when you first uploaded...and wondered if you had figured out a sneaky way to replace images...!...but I think I just had my monitor on a different angle. Heh...
Anyway...you definitely got the supermodel look going on in this one! The colours are really cute. My favourite parts is the circle above your head, and the landscape image on the upper left. I'd like to maybe see some more intricate detail, but overall concept is great. Nice work! :)

meredith Thanks for waiting to be in the right frame of mind, i really appreciate that. Yeah, I'm not really sneaky... and this does actually look better from an angle.. i noticed that while i was working on it when i would walk away for a bit and come back.
The supermodel thing was unintentional, yay photoshop! Of course i look nothing like this in reality.. but this piece expresses more of me in other aspects on a certain level at the same time.
I thought about more detail and held off in fear of over-doing it as i can tend to do. i just.. let it go...
Hey this is soo awesome!
Colors are just fantastic and I really love the lippish flower. My favourite part is top left, makes me want to enter the picture to see where the road goes to....

I think quite possibly one of my favourite piece from you like ever, the colours, the detailing the overall tones - its all just gorgeous and the little story behind it made me giggle while reading. A gem!!
PS. I am catching up on my comments. Finally got around to it.
