The function of grey matter is to route sensory or motor stimulus to interneurons of the CNS in order to create a response to the stimulus through chemical synapse activity. Research has shown that the amount of gray matter in a brain is positively correlated with human intelligence.

You have such an eye for shapes and colors. There's this harmony and cleverness to the way you make things fit together that I love. And it's always so distinctively Mere-ish. You're so awesome. :)

meredith aww X] *blushhhhhhh* ;b You are awesome too, for leaving me such positive and encouraging feedback and always recognizing the distinct *mere-ness* in my expression. Thanks so much, Val!
i think, i like its because of the hidden elements, like lips, and the eyes mainly, from the thumb it does look like a portrait, but when you take a closer look, there is much more to explore.
very nice coloring too!

meredith Thank you Oliver! What more can a girl ask for than for someone to notice all of her hidden elements?! hehe. Thank you for exploring this it means a lot to me.
This is a great work. I love the subject matter, and the concept is brilliant. I think that the vectors in the center work really well, but i think some of the lines in/around the lips have too much contrast, and i might have made some of the gradients smoother on the top row of lips.
The picture is beautiful, and I love what you did with your hair. The colors on that entire side of the creation are just fucking sublime(excuse my French, but 'tis necessary).
I disagree with Luis on your grayscale colors, although I think that in lots of pieces more contrast might be believed to improve the overall piece, I believe that you chose a perfect balance of contrast and color for this piece. Not only does the gray powerfully bolster the idea behind the concept, but I also think that the smooth charcoal that the blacks ended up as is aesthetically pleasing and blends delightfully with the pink gradients. Between the hard lines and the pink hues, I believe you achieved a flawless balance of contrast in this piece.
My single critique on this piece would have to be the composition. Although I believe it worked well with your subject matter, and may have seemed correct at the time, I think that the total composition is quite static. I think that although the piece itself is quite busy, it lacks optical magnetism enough to really extract the true potential of this piece. I think that a better compliance of the rule of thirds would help this piece immensely, and even though you have the lips off kilter to the left and the beautiful line art in the bottom left corner, although the piece is quite balanced, I think some slight modifications to the composition would improve the viewing of this piece to optimize the effect and also add a new level of dynamics to the image.
I love the little description that went with this image too. It's quite sad how idealized art has been, and the minuscule iota of the art world most people are aware of. The media really screws art a lot, and even the definition of it has been altered to the majority of the population than what it should really represent.
Oh also, I was just curious, you said you were working on this by the skate park, is this traditional art in any way or were you working on a laptop?

meredith Hello Nate. Thank you for your time and thought put into this response. I really appreciate that. I see your perspective and am happy that i can create a piece that would allow someone to delve so deep into. One of the reasons that i create.
To answer your question, about this being in any way traditional, Yes It is. I had come to a point during the creation process of this piece, where i printed out the portrait so i could get my hands on it physically... i was feeling the need for a more intimate experiment.. and at the time the lips had been set in the line of vision of the eyes on the portrait. I brought the print out with me and began drawing the bit you see in the bottom left hand corner inside of the circle on the portrait itself. having then been inspired, after returning to my computer, i scanned in what i had drawn and incorporated it, and changed the placement to complete the vision of my concept.
I love experimenting and by doing so i try to defy rules, and see what i can come up with. Discover the Unknown :]
