Here's something no one has seen yet... and seeing as how this is still a closed community, I figured I'd get some interesting feedback/reactions for this piece.
the composition is cool, and it sees like your know what your doing.. however im not sure about the trunk not having anything to ground itself.. it seems really awkward.
and the registration look is also weird. but overall its really good concept.
Agreed with Luis. The concept is interesting, though I feel you could really improve on it. Personally I don't like the background looking like it's a negative...though probably a bit subjective, I don't really like negative colours used on anything.
As Luis said, I think the main thing here is that the woman and tree are not grounded. If you didn't want to put anything underneath then maybe you could play with shadows to appear that they are actually sitting on something? Though maybe the tree could have a pot ;)
although i dont think the trunk needs anything it seems awkward to me because of the background.. i mean.. im not one to talk my work is a whole crap of cut and paste.
The "negative" colour scheme style carly mentioned does throw me off too. Like chalk on a chalk board. I see that its almost like she is inside of a tree and that the tree appears to be coming out of her.. ? instead of being on the ground with her? I am not sure. Anyway it is a very thought provoking piece, and i do like a good thought provoking piece..
While I am seeing a very interesting concept and taking on board this is a work in progress as stated before me; the tree and the woman connection isn't quite there yet. I am sure you're just toying with the different elements and seeing what will work but given this layout I think can all agree that its not working so much. The smokescreen texture seems to be detracting from what could really be a wonderful piece of art. All minor things which can be easily remedied given your experience I am sure. :)
