The shadow play is amazing, but my favorite part about this is it can portray so many different emotions: anger, seduction, sadness. The touch with the clothing really adds interest to this for me, especially the flowing shape its in. The heart is key too, because even though it's you're ordinary human heart, it's stylized, and abstracted. And last but not least, the negative space is so well used. Beautiful piece as always Meredith. If you put this on a shirt though, you're going to make me bankrupt :(

meredith Thanks for this wonderful comment. You have pretty much hit the nail on the head with the different emotions.. they seem to be (for me at least) so strongly related to our heart. You don't have to worry too much about the shirt yet, its harder to create shirts with the darker backgrounds and matching up colours. ;b.
Another great piece from Meredith! I like this monotone/red approach for once; it differs from your otherwise ever-colourful illustrations. Conveys the message perfectly; its very vivid and clear. The strong contrast is a big plus too!
Very well done. : )

meredith Aww, thanks Martin.
Yeah i just wasn't feeling all rainbowie with this concept.
And when i dripped out red on the canvas,
my heart lit up,
and i said let it be,
and it was! :]
viron20 You're soo welcome, Meredith. It's true :)

meredith It's not the first time i have been told, and it won't be the last.. but it means more & more each time i hear it. So, I try my best to use them for a good and meaningful purpose. You are awesome. :]

viron20 Well, now you have the absolute certainty that you have amazing eyes (doesn't take a genius to notice that, however). Now all you have to do is to use this thing at your own advantage!
And I'll stop here, or I'll become adulatory in the cheesy way. :)

meredith Yeah.. at my advantage and of course others... if it were just mine i could get in a lot of trouble... hehe.
geeeez! the expression on your face is incredible. i can't quite figure out though if you are holding this heart in a protective way, or a hurtful one. really cool work Mere, i just love the black/white/red combo too :]

carly I think this one would have to be a favourite for me actually. I hope you don't mind me saying, a lot of times your work inspires me not for aesthetic reasons, but for your thoughts and emotions behind it. The way you think, and create, and don't give up, this is inspirational to me :)
I am glad this piece was featured, I am captivated by the image. The work is strong and touches the senses. I see it as a "you hurt me once, but never again; If you want to touch my heart you have to get through me first . . . " Yet you are bold, looking forward, and steadfast.
Absolutely stunning.

meredith Thanks so much for your kind words and perspective. I love seeing others interpretations of my expression. I am really happy that i was able to touch the senses with this one, as i was feeling very intensely at the time i created it. Again thank you :]
