"Everything in its entirety will flow through the consciousness and veins of this my beautiful first Son. In his self-imposed torment let him impose the torment of the love upon himself, of those he deems to love above me..."
Andrew E. Maugham - "Convivium"
He won't let go, and I had some time over the past couple of weeks, so I figured I could give in and paint him again: Lucifer.
I kind of wanted to do something that reminds of old paintings - the pose, colours, drapery, and the stone carving in the background that could double as a halo. It was odd doing just a portrait after all those complete character paintings, but fun nonethless.
i feel a bit bugged by the light from the clothing and the face, the face looks much more darker than the clothing... i gues it's just me cuz of different color lol
i really like this kind of portrait, always look very good this way, beautiful background you've made:)
And I don't think it's just you. I was looking at that as well with the light, because the scarf is so much brighter than the face, but silk really tends to shine when light hits it directly, whereas skin only does when it's oily. Oh well... =]
not sure what to say.. its breathtaking work. amazing ..amazing!! i love how you manage to capture such human emotion into the characters in your work.
It is beautiful. Your lighting perfect. The carving in the background is amazingly detailed. The only thing that throw me off a little is that it's all not quite centred. I'm sure you have good reason for making like this though :)
The carving is centered, but the figure is not, no. Reason for that is if his head were centered in the carving, his body would be too far on the left side of the picture, and it looked really odd when I tried it. Besides, I don't like centered... >.> LOL
(blasted reply-button didn't work the first time... yay me, double posting...)

carly Yeah true...maybe is just my crooked eye. It looked the carving wasn't centered. I don't like centered either.....but sometimes on rare occasions I just feel compelled ;)
