Started in illustrator, then completed in Photoshop, incorporating vector and paint brush drawing, along with photomanipulation and scanned material.
A commission acquired through a local art/music event at Market on 7th in Ybor. The Client met with me a week later at the Ybor City Artwalk and wanted a commissioned portrait of her close musician friend. This is a suprise for her friend, and she will be giving it to her as a gift, in the coming weeks. She told me that she wanted me to be free to create how i do, using purples and blacks and reds, the subjects favourite colours.
This is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful and the red/black background makes it so intense and powerful. I love how you structured the composition, the way she looks and reaches outside the frame. It's like there's another out there, which remains a secret!
Great work!

meredith i was going for a sort of spiritual intensity or powerfulness. i just really felt that sort of vibe from gina's music when i listened. it was so awesome to hear from the client that i pretty much nailed her personality exactly in the portrait. The final print was absolutely gorgeous in colour and vibrancy, with the blacks and reds. i too like the arm reaching outside of the composition also. thank you very much for the kind words! it means so much :]
