I was just curious if any of you have ever had mentors? If so, how did they become your mentor? Did it help?

Proof that we're all smart asses!
If I had to say though.
I have learnt a hell of a lot from Luis.

I truly have had no mentors, just kind of have observed everyone along the way while taking a mental note. some having more of an impact on me than others.

No mentors for me. At least no one who sat and held my hand.

Thanks for the responses, was just curious as I actually met someone who had a mentor when it came to art.

the closest i have is my good friend jeral tidwell (humantree.com) who's worked as an artist for ten years.
he pushed me to eventually work for myself and is an unending well of support. we work together day to day and keep each-other in check.

a couple of lecturers at college really helped open my eyes that creativity is anything not a job or a medium u do. il allways be thankful for those guys.

I never had a mentor in the strict sense, but did try to be diligent about researching methods and styles. That, in and of itself, if you are somewhat systematic about it, can be very useful.
