Purchasing Resources

This has been bothering me throughout my entire time of doing Digital art. I love some of the brush, and vector packs that I see... but I don't ever purchase any. Why? I feel if I do, and use them in my art, that the artwork or design that I've done is essentially not 'mine' or not 'my hard work' put into it. In my mind, it is the same as taking parts of someone elses work and combining it with yours, even though you legally purchased the rights to use it.
My solution? I went out, picked up some art supplies and started doing things on Bristol paper, and scanning it. Is it just as quality? Probably not. But it's my own work.
Am I just being dumb on the matter? Am I going to later down the line, eventually purchase and use these packages? And if I do, should I still feel like it's not 'my' work?
I was just curious on all of the communities thoughts on using commercial brushes/vectors.

i think these sort of packs you speak of are more meant for people who cannot create them from scratch and people who use them for corporate/commercial/sales designs who do not have the time to sit down and be creative and conceptual. As opposed to artists/expressionists who are actually the ones getting down and dirty with them and creating them originally for expression purposes and what not.
it actually looks as if you need to be the one selling these packs ;]

i agree with Mere, i´ve worked in an agency for practice, and everything there used in catalogs was from cliparts, photodisks and whatnot...
a job i can´t imagine doing the whole day, but they get a lot of money for it, so its their kind of business...
i feel not bad when i use professional resources either,(because i know i´ve paid for it) or free resources when i mention the creator, so its what you pull out of it!
you can do some nice stuff with those resources, but you can pullout outstanding things also if you have the time, knowledge and creativity!
if you have the time putting your resources together, than everything is perfect and thats a thing i can do only half the time because of a day job....

it depends on what you're trying to do.
i do merchandising design and illustration (along with web work) as my full time job.
i can draw just fine, however, my ridiculous archive of stock art is great for helping me with various projects i don't have hours and hours and hours to pour into something i get a mere $250/submission on.
so, i'll illustrate a main object and then utilize etchings and all sorts of stuff to accent it. it just depends on what you're doing and what the project allows time for and ...how personal it is.
sometimes, i'll compose something out of illustrations and photographs either i take myself or i purchase from a stock photography site and then redraw from that.
but there are people that actually create ART out of this stuff too like mexicanchocolatedesign.com. he does an awesome job doing what he does.
