hi Folks,

just want to share some ideas and hope to hear your opinions on if its possible, or maybe later on, or if its only me...

a backend featuring html box to put different media onto the profile page, like:
videoclips hosted on own webpage, slideshows,css journals,
playlists from last.fm or even podcasts for example etc.
the possibility to create different gallery types, including the customuization of headers, page layouts, and thumbnail sizes, ie.: one for photography, another one for scraps, another one for concept-design, etc even when this feature would be for premium members only.
a favourite gallery would complement this feature very much, either for the own gallery or from others artwork.

so, thats for now- i hope to animate for new ideas and discussion of what is possible...

thank you for the time to write such wonderful suggestions fant!

some of the stuff you suggested is in the pipeline and as you might have guessed we have diffrent versions and upgrades planned over a period of time..

and you made some great suggestions that will help us allot.. keep em coming.. we want this site to be a site that artists want. but it wont happen overnight.. so if you bear with us and comment as much as you can.. we can get there =]

I'm not sure personally about the first idea. I can see this getting really messy and hard to control. On a simple scale though...I do believe there will be more html options available, like in commenting and similar to options on flickr.

I like the idea of grouping. At the moment you could implement this through scratchpad. Not sure how it would work globally. It could be a nice idea. What about searching for tags? This would automatically create a group. But I do understand how you vision this.

Favourites will be happening. I like this feature because it lets people know how much you appreciate their work enough to favourite it, rather than just commenting.

customizing profile's is all well and good. to an extent. i too have seen this get incredibly out of hand. being that this site's central focus is to upload, share & inspire, putting too much focus on the designing of our profile page is going to take away from the content and purpose. with that being said. i feel that it would be nice if "Account Settings" offered different "empty" layout designs that are already available to implement as your profile layout. These "empty layout designs" could be categorized to meet the needs of "certain types" of artists or what the artist would like to be the central focus of their profile for the changes they wish ti make.

These designs could be 1. created by CS , or 2. created by a member of CS and then submitted for review/changes etc. All designs templates of course to be approved by CS before being released as an available profile layouts category.

thats just some brain garbage for now i'm sure i will have more thoughts later after another cup of coffee.

Yeah I'm not so much for the idea of letting people make their profile pages look like myspace. maybe just simple things like flickr has I think it's ok. You can put html things in there or whatever you can think of. Although I'm not sure the current design will lend itself to this that well..

sometimes i wonder what in the hell was someone thinking on myspace. i mean seriously. what in the HELL ARE YOU THINKING!!!!! (the sad part is 99% of those layouts are all pre-made Someone Actually Made those and they passed someones expectations!!!!!)

but then i have to stop myself before my head explodes.

i've never really explored flickrs customizing options (i should take a look huh?), i just use it kind of as storage for photos and random expression, most of my stuff on their is private.

yeah i agree about the current designs versatility with HTML however i do believe it has potential ... and could have several variations to appeal to many people.

I'm not sure too about the first point on fantasio's post... too myspacey, even after all this is an artist's space, I would prefer to keep it pure as that and not contaminated. I respect fantasio's point of view but things could get messy with that kind of customization, let them happen on myspace and not here. Or maybe, such features as videos could be limited to things related to the artist itself, to prevent accumulating superfluous material.

This is debatable though! As soon as you give people options, they get in their head an idea for what they want. It is impossible to please everyone. At least if there is no option...nobody can complain :)

Analyze the extreme positions being held by everyone involved.

Find a way for each to give just a little.

Thereby, initiating movement toward an acceptable solution.

The only way to move past this is through active dialog and compromise. So we are going in a very good direction as it stands! :]

So far, no on wants a "My CS Space" lol.
