Would be nice to message anyone, not just our confirmed friends. (Althought that dropdown is nice for quick-messages to people we've sent to before or our friends.)

What happens if you mess up the user name? Do you get a "that user does not exist" error?... or does your message get sent into a vortex?

User doesn't exist. That, or we could have a wicked AJAX script that could do a search of all the users as you're typing, and you can select from a dropdown the one you want. So, say I'm writing to carly, if I typed in car, it would give me all the people with names starting with car, and then in that bunch would be the username I'm looking for.

james, that sounds like genius and all except for the small possibility (at least with my crappy wacom mouse) to accidentally click the wrong name in that bunch send the wrong person your message.

kind of like your typo in the word "genious" (cos that was a typo right ;)

each of the stars are the many messages that were sent to users who do not exist.

@ meredith: Genious is spelled with a "u" in Canada. Also, it wouldn't send it right away once you click the name, you would be able to change it, and then to send it you would still click the send button.
