What kind of music are you listening to (if any) while you're working? I've got an iTunes playlist of some Finger Eleven, Ratatat, The Postal Service, Linkin Park (not they're new album - it sucks). Love listening to the ambient beats and I'm guilty of listening to the depthcore radio.

While working?
Plenty of Classical, and Ambient during Client work.
Plenty of Industrial, or any song that is in relation to what the piece will portray during Digital Art.

Forgot to mention some groups:
Classical: Mozart, Bach, Handel, Tchaikovsky, Liszt, Schubert
Ambient: Plaid, Populous, Bionaut, some DJ Food, Midwest Product, Solvent, some Plastikman, Prefuse 73
Throw some Timo Maas, Oakenfold, Tiesto, Judge Jules, BT and Pete Tong randomly in there for good measure and I'm pretty much set.

I go through big phases of music tastes...most come in and out.
I hate listening to radio. For some reason it makes me depressed.
At the moment I am listening to Incubus - Light Grenades, Nelly Furtado - Loose, Coldplay - X&Y, The Killers - Sam's Town...various other stuff I pick up..!
Like Devian said it depends on the kind of work I am doing to what sort of music I listen to.

Metal, prefferably unknown stuff from the 80's, though some death/black is nice too. Classic rock/hard rock as well.

Although for some reason last.fm didn't record 2 weeks of songs. But I'm all over the place really.

To elaborate and recommend: mostly, down tempo, chill, trip-hop & hip-hop, some electro.. some ragga, and some dub... etc.. my history shows tags of music (& that similar to) prefuse 73, thievery corporation, boards of canada, bjork, tommy guerrero, lately i've liked ms. john soda, junior brothers and been feeling some air. but i always go back and forth, and each day its a new tag for a new feel.. within this. that i feel.. right now. etc. etc.
my most recently loved song while getting lost in my work:
The Ballistic Brothers, Portobello Cure :]

@ carly: I hate the radio too, but that's because it's a known band killer. Most new bands/groups that get a 'radio hit' usually try to 'improve their style' to make another hit, and end up fucking themselves when the first album was what kept people listening in the first place.

I dunno if it's that. It's just something about it that makes me feel depressed. It's makes music have some sort of dingy vibe.

radio is lame and slightly insulting to my intelligence, i only use radio for public news or traffic really. they air pretty much nothing but record label garbage and there is a lot of good music whoring out there that is tight and cant afford to be bought about by a corporate mainstream Music Industry Devil. it does totally lack feeling and vibes. Every now and then there's a hook or a sample that is good but most likely it was remixed generically and dumbed down for the masses.

I hate how the sensor songs. You sing along and all of a sudden your favourite song has different words.
