This is something that's been on my mind for a while, around mid semester when I was sitting in my class.
I'd like to know whether or not you can teach someone to become creative or is it innate with certain individuals?
I'm in a creative arts program and I'm not too sure what I'm doing in it. Am I there to learn how to be creative or just there to find situation in which I can learn to apply my creativity.
Also, is anyone tired of the word "creative" ?

Raphael, regardless of your daily path, i believe we are the creators of ourselves, so when we learn or discover, we are actually making ourselves who we are. Their is no preconceived who you are, though outside factors are ofcourse always an influence.
Thank for your answers Meredith.
I think you'd be very very interested in reading "In search of the miraculous" by P.D. Ouspensky and "Secret history of the world" by Laura Knight-Jadczyk.[/quote]
You are very welcome i am honoured that you asked me all of these things, anyway. I will definitely check out the books, It's been a while since i read something..
But now.. you also have to stand up to your end of the deal! ;]

What about death, decay and the many horrors we are living through ?
Do you think they are also part of creation ? (I'll tell you what I think if you answer :P)

haha I thought you'd let it go :D
Ok, I also think that it is a normal part of "life" in general and that it should be seen as two opposite pole of reality
Sadly, if you pay a little attention to the world around us, it seems that we are on the downward path.
Mainly because of the
Ponerological factors
I think that It's up to us at every moment in life to either chose one or the other but the problem is, are we really conscious of our actions or are we just "machines" reacting this or that way because of external impulses ?
We are machines until we strive and work to become more conscious of ourselves so in anything you do you may ask yourself, "Am I present right now ?"
I'd say there is few creation to be made by people who are not aware of themselves as being but are just acting like machines.
Not that it is impossible, but it is probably garbled and drowned in the noise of our own projections.
Sorry I am a poor debater but I hope you get the gist of what I am saying, I hope you'll read the books, they're a slap in the face :D

LOL its the only reason i answered. hehe.
But really, Thanks for the "Ponerological factors" reference. I didn't even know that type of behavior had a name and i am dealing with it at the present. It can be quite stressful and totally mind boggling to deal with. It also tends to drag you away from that whole "Am i present right now" concept because your emotions are escalated and your mind unfocused. You want to hope and pray that its something other than "evil" but i think when it comes down to it their is no other answer.
I too am no good at debates. This forum discussion is as good as it gets, ask me to my face and i will be like uhm, can i write this down.. think about it... and get back to you via email? ;b
I have already looked the books up, i am going to order "In search of the miraculous one" today. I have always had an interest in eastern religious thinking & all types of philosophy. As for "Secret history of the world" its looking to cost a bit more and all the more intriguing. If you know where i can get it less than $40.00 usd please point me in that direction. 'Til then I'm going to keep looking myself.
