High school website redesign

So I've gotten the assignment of redesigning my high school's website. This is one of the first sketches, please tell me what you think. :3
I tried to maintain the color scheme, just freshening the site up a little.

The redesign looks quite nice I must say, but it seems like something is missing. Since its a school, I'd try to use as much photographies here and there as possible - maybe even rotating image galleries in flash somewhere - just to make it more alive.

Do you code the back-end as well? : )

True. I put that small image in the content area there but it doesn't really cut it. ;>

Sadly I'm a front-end guy. I can read most php stuff, but I don't code it.
For backend stuff I usually just use Typo3, customize it slightly and focus on front-end.

Very smooth and nice. Definitely an improvement from the other site.

I'm sure you know this but it has to be much larger (especially font-size).
